Technology transfer and company start-up
Technology transfer and in the health technologies domain

Since 1997, Medea collaborates with the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli (IOR) for the identification of technologies that enable new clinical and surgical approaches both in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Besides many funded research projects, the strong collaboration led to the Spin-off, Orthokey Italia foundation. Orthokey is the only company on the Italian scene, and among the few in the world, to produce and sell computer-aided surgery systems. In particular, the collaboration with the IOR lead to the design of innovative solutions such as BLU-IGS, the orthopedic surgery navigator and KIRA, a dynamic knee instability analysis system. These activities were accompanied by various clinical studies and definition of research framework agreements with large companies and intellectual property protection agreements.
