AGAPE among AAL Programme Success Stories in the 5th Impact Assessment

Within the framework of the AAL Programme, Medea is proud to announce that the project AGAPE has been featured among the official Success Stories of the 5th Impact Assessment. This recognition highlights the project’s contribution to fostering innovation adoption in real-life care ecosystems across Europe.

AGAPE – coordinated by Medea – was designed to support the effective adoption of digital solutions by older adults, caregivers and policymakers. Rather than focusing solely on technology development, the project addressed one of the key challenges in innovation: ensuring that solutions are truly usable, accepted and integrated into everyday care practices.

To achieve this, AGAPE developed a comprehensive methodology and toolkit based on user profiling, personalised coaching and ecosystem mapping. By analysing users’ digital skills, needs and readiness for change, the project enabled the adaptation of services and interfaces to different contexts, supporting a gradual and sustainable adoption process.

The implementation of AGAPE in different pilot sites – including Tuscany, Coimbra and Bucharest – provided valuable insights into how cultural, organisational and systemic factors influence innovation uptake. These experiences confirmed the importance of tailoring solutions to local ecosystems and engaging stakeholders from the early stages of project development.

The results achieved by AGAPE go beyond technological innovation, emphasising the role of behavioural change, user empowerment and policy alignment in ensuring long-term impact. The project also introduced the concept of the “AGAPE Coach”, a key figure supporting users throughout their digital adoption journey.

This recognition within the AAL Programme Impact Assessment confirms the relevance of Medea’s approach to innovation, based on real-life validation, stakeholder engagement and sustainability. It also reflects Medea’s ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between technology and people, ensuring that innovation effectively responds to real needs.

Medea will continue building on these results through ongoing European projects and collaborations, contributing to the development of more inclusive, accessible and sustainable care systems.
